Training and Education

Overview:

We prepare families for the responsibilities of owning and maintaining a home before closing on their house. Homebuyer families take classes to learn about homeownership, maintenance, and financial management. Some financial classes listed are taken at our community partner Financial Pathways, a HUD approved financial counseling agency who provides advice on budgeting, expenses, banking, financial freedom, and credit issues.

If you are interested in any of the mentioned topics, please refer to our calendar for the classes that are currently scheduled and open to the general public. Note: You can either view all Events or select the “Training & Education” category from the drop-down Event Categories menu on the left of the Calendar page. If you are a current Habitat homeowner, click the Education Center button at the top right corner of this page and enter the password to access the secured site designed specifically for our partner families.

How to Register:

Once you have decided on a class you would like to attend, complete and submit the registration form. Minimal fees may be charged for some courses to cover materials and operating expenses. To locate our training classrooms and computer lab, enter the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust Housing Education Center through the double doors on the lower level.

Cancellation Policy:

If you register for a class but cannot make it, it is very important that you cancel your reservation at least a day before the scheduled class.
If Habitat has to cancel a class for any reason (e.g. inclement weather), we will make every effort to do so by phone at least a day in advance. Therefore, please be sure to include a reliable way to contact you (phone or email).
