Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County has received grants from Publix Super Markets and the Winston-Salem Foundation that will fund the construction of a new house and a staff position supporting marketing and volunteer efforts.

A grant of $65,000 from Publix will fund a Habitat home to be built in Forsyth County in 2017. The grant is part of Publix Super Markets Charities’ support for more than 120 Habitat for Humanity affiliates nationwide. Publix also greets each new Habitat family with a fully stocked pantry.

The Winston-Salem Foundation has also awarded Habitat with $31,785 to fund the new staff position of marketing and volunteer engagement manager. The staff person will be primarily responsible for marketing, as well as volunteer recruitment and management, for Habitat’s two ReStores in Winston-Salem and Kernersville; leading the Habitat Youth Ambassadors program for local high school students; and maintaining Habitat’s web page and social media.

“The holidays have been good to Habitat for Humanity,” said Michael Campbell, executive director of Habitat Forsyth. “We have received critical funding for capacity building around marketing, volunteers and youth programs, as well as our ongoing need for funding new homes.”
