CALLING ALL ARTISTS for BirdFest 2008! Over the past twelve years, the proceeds from BirdFest have financed ten Habitat homes to low-income, hardworking residents.  Clearly, this benefits our entire community.  And it is all because of YOU!  As always, we need your art to help make BirdFest 2008 a success!

 

WHAT WE WOULD LOVE FROM YOU:  All mediums of art!   From fibers to metals, pottery, jewelry, photography, quilting, whatever, thereÕs a place for it at BirdFest! 

 

WHEN TO BRING YOUR DONATED ART:  10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 through Saturday, April 19. Items received after this date will not be eligible for an award, but will be included in the show.  The 2008 BirdFest judges are Joe Cagle, Belinda Tate and Mona Wu.

 

To show our deep appreciation and respect for the art community Habitat has arranged for local sponsors, and supporters of Habitat for Humanity to offer the following monetary awards:

 


Best of Show  - NewBridge Bank | $1,500

First Prize Ð Garner Foods and Texas Pete | $1,000

Honorable Mention | $500

Best use of recycled materials | $500

Most creative concept Òfor the gardenÓ | $500

Rebekkah Randolph Fischer Memorial | $250

Tony Swider Memorial (Educator Award) | $250

BirdFest Committee Choice | $250

Student Best of Show | $100


 

Now onto the EVENT! 

WHEN:  Birdfest is May 1, 2 ,3 Ð tell everyone you know!

WHERE: The warehouse, Habitat for Humanity at 339 Witt Street, Winston-Salem.

THE BEST PARTY IN TOWN:  May 3 Ð 6:00-10:00 or whenever the auction is completed.  Contributing artists will be able to purchase two discounted tickets for $10.  (Regular price is $25 per ticket.) Silent Auction Artists will receive one complimentary ticket, Live Auction Artists will receive two complimentary tickets. 

 

Just so you know, the major components of BirdFest are:

  1. NEW HOURS The Buy Ôn Fly Sale ÐThurs. from 12 Ð 7pm; Fri from 10am Ð 6pm; Sat. from 9am Ð 1pm

2.    The Silent Auction -  bids taken all three days.  Concludes Saturday evening

3.    The Juried Live Auction Р 6:00pm with food and beverage on Saturday

 

We want you to know that we receive your artwork with the utmost appreciation for the time, creativity and effort that you have given to help make your community a kinder place to live.   LetÕs build more homes!
